Personal Background

I had many blessings in my childhood. My birth culture was build on the Lord's Prayer.  Matthew 6:9-13

"After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."

Given a healthy foundation, for personal growth, it helps one to live in different places than where one grew up. This shows that many behaviors are not universal. This can give the freedom to reevaluate one's culture. Rethinking one's cultural conditioning can free one to make a personal culture of one's choice. This is different than rebelling or complying.
Abram moved from south Iraq near the sea to the north1. In the south prehistoric sailors had told how they used the stars as sailing guides. Then over the years and in many places  Sophists2
used the fact sky guidance at sea to create astrology with themselves as seers or priest. Some went on to create mythologies with sky gods. They told of the planets as wondering gods like Mercury, Venus and Mars. They pointed to a point in the northern sky (the North Pole) that showed how the stars and planets all move around it and there was nothing to be seen at the control point.3

In the North they worshiped many idols. Abram remembered the control point in the sky and look to the most high unseen God. He made this most powerful unseen God his friend and rejected idols.

In ancient Iraq with idol worship some people did child sacrifice to burn their children for idol or god. (for the affluent of that time it was equivalent to abortion in motivation but through sophistry they turned the murder into honoring some god!) Abram remembered the control point in the sky and looked to the most high unseen God and a different city without the idols! Abraham is an example of one achieving Individual Sovereignty.

From Abram to Abraham4 the archetype father figure for a new culture that worshiped the "Most High Unseen God".

Abraham became the archetype authority figure for ending human sacrifice and replacing it with animal sacrifices that could be eaten5.

Being one's own person Is not rebelling nor Complying. It is growing in love and trust with parents worthy of your love and trust as Spiritual guides and teachers; as a loving mother and a respected father.

That is time and chance. Parents may be teachers or cult leaders both types get our love and trust.  The only way you know is when they are done and we find we are empowered and free  or trapped and dependent. To bad the same care and evaluation of mothering and fathering are not given to humans as it is to pets and live stock. Children's healthy conception, potential (for growth and development), growth and development need protected and defended with violators prosecuted and prevented.

(12) And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. (13) And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
