Background Level: The quantity, quality and extensiveness of background depends on the healthy development from our child rearing culture.
Exposure Level: Observations are exposure to reality for example observing ice, liquid water and steam.
Qualitative Level: In analyzing the observations we first look for qualitative characterizations like hot and cold. We call this quality temperature.
Quantitative Level: We operationally define water changing from a liquid at see level as freezing. We operationally define liquid water changing to steam at sea level as boiling. We operationally define 0 degrees centigrade as the freezing point of water at sea level. We operationally define water boiling at sea level as 100 degrees centigrade.
Graphical Level: With quantitative variables like temperature, volume and pressure operationally defined we can make quantitative investigations of varying any two while the third is held constant and plot a graph or the observations of the two variables.
Algebraic Level: PV=nRT

In the present analysis there are 34 Observation levels. "The Analysis

We need an Initial Analysis that regresses to get a foundation for building our insights into physical and behavioral reality. The basic structure of analysis below was worked out in 1962 at the age of 22. The initial analysis regressed to physics and mathematics. This reasoning and the desire to understand led to work that gave University degrees in Mathematics, Physics and Education with a minor i Computer Science from SUNY AB.
Even though I failed 1st and 7th grade, and quit school after 9th grade; I kept learning from physical and behavioral reality (My Dad thought me hunting, fishing, trapping, building pig pens, chicken coops and dog houses while gardening and remodeling a home that did not have running water. He was killed when I was 12. My mother remarried at 14. The summer I was 14 I hitch hiked back to my farm town to work for the summer and stayed at Frank Pluff's. The summer I was 15 I hitch hiked back to my farm town to work for the summer and again stayed at Frank Pluff's. I made money working at Hoovers Dairy. At the end of the summer I hitchhiked alone to visit Roger at Davis–Monthan Air Force Base at Tucson, Arizona. On my way back I went to Juárez, Mexico and then back home in time to quit school at 16. I worked in a factory till New Years and then went on the road selling magazines door-to-door till 17 and returned home to join the USAF.
At 17 in the USAF I was sent to radio school and the advisor told me to take the High School Equivalency Test at my Radio School Base. I took the 5 two hour test and passed so high that I took the College Equivalency Test and received University Credit in two of the four subject areas.
A year later I was beaten with a head injury from a drunken Acting First Sergeant. A year later I received an Honorable Medical Discharge.
I worked on construction for 3 years then changed to repair office equipment. I was sent to Syracuse, NY where alone in my rented room I pondered what gave life purpose? That question has led to this life's work!
Given observations of physical or behavioral reality we want to analyze as deeply as practical. The observations are an exposure level (1) awareness. The observations can be graphical / pattern in nature (right brained) or logical / digital in nature (left brained).
With analysis of the exposure level (1) we develop the qualitative level (2) like the quality of size or motion. With analysis on the qualitative level we develop the quantitative level (3) like measure of mass or volume. With analysis of the information from the quantitative level we develop cause-effect models on the abstract level (4) often this results in an equation with a dependent variable like size, velocity or inertia as a function of an independent variable like time, place or volume.
How to lay a foundation for building the future with knowledge of what we are dealing with? That is the question.
