Day 3

Newton's First Law ] [ Newton's Second Law ] [ Newton's Third Law ]

"Ouch!  That apple fell on my head!"

"The same thing happened to a famous scientist, Sir Isaac Newton.  From that day on, he wondered how he could explain why the apple fell. In 1687, he came up with a way to describe how objects move - the Three Laws of Motion. These laws explain why a ball that is thrown up will come back down, and why we don't just float off into space. Why crash dummies fly through car windows, and why every action has an equal and opposite reaction!"

Newton's First Law of Motion

Newton's First Law of Motion explains why things stop and go. It also explains why things that go up and come back down. You will also learn what would happen if you threw a ball in space!

Newton's Second Law

Newton's Second Law of Motion explains why things slow down and speed up. It also tells us why most humans know the second law. Acceleration = Force / Mass; If you want to know the meaning of that, then go to Newton's Second Law!

Newton's Third Law of Motion

Did you know that every action has an equal and opposite reaction? Newton's Third Law of Motion explains why this is true! Did you ever wonder why a rocket goes up? You will learn that here too!
