Where And When The Terrorist Will Strike?

Stavropol Region, Southern Russia  - New Testament Parallel English/Russian

I am updating this view November 2007. We are in Southern Russia. We are and have been teaching Spoken English here. This is our 6th year here. Currently we have 4 small classes a week. We are here 3 months in the Fall and three months in the Spring.

The middle map is a picture of the from the library we teach at there. The New Testament with parallel English/Russian is the worlds best researched text in both languages so excellent for the student to understand the what is being spoken in his/her native tongue and English!

We cross the Atlantic four times a year. We fly from Moscow to the Caucus Mountains and back twice a year and  fly from New York to Florida once a year. We use the Moscow subway and the commuter trains. There have been terrorist murders where we travel and near where we live. We just wonder where and when the terrorist will strike next?

I will start with our recent background first. There is much joy and pain in our care for a better culture. There is concern because where we go in the Moscow subway, where we take the electric train near Pyatigorsk, where we fly and the airline we use to Mineralnye Vody Airport S7 Airlines (Moscow-Domodedovo) there has been the presents of human sacrifice by way of suicide bombings.

It is June 2007 as I am again updating this work. I am an American of American parents of a two-by-two home Christian background. They are the homes that Jesus said to pray for Luke 10:2 (The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.)

My father was of Swedish background. He died in an accident and my mother remarried when I was13 years old. My stepfather was a German-American Lutheran (that immigrated to America at 12 years old). He served in the USA Army's 216th AAA Gun Battalion with honor in World War II. My mother was of an English background.

My wife (Olga) and I married in 2000. My wife has a diverse cultural experience that compliments mine. Olga is from a Molokan-Russian-Armenian background. Molokans are Home Christians originating in Russia in the 1500's but did not have the ministers that Jesus prayed for in Luke 10:2.

Are there links between Chechen groups and al-Qaeda?

Experts cite several ties, including:

  • The late Chechen warlord Khattab, a Jordanian-born fighter who was killed in Chechnya in April 2002, and Osama bin Laden. Khattab apparently first met bin Laden while both men were fighting the 1979-89 Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. The U.S. ambassador to Russia, Alexander Vershbow, said shortly after September 11, “We have long recognized that Osama bin Laden and other international networks have been fueling the flames in Chechnya, including the involvement of foreign commanders like Khattab.”
  • Zacarias Moussaoui, whom U.S. authorities have charged with being the “20th hijacker” in the September 11 attacks, was reported by the Wall Street Journal to be formerly “a recruiter for al-Qaeda-backed rebels in Chechnya.”
  • Chechen militants reportedly fought alongside al-Qaeda and Taliban forces against the U.S.-backed Northern Alliance in late 2001. The Taliban regime in Afghanistan was one of the only governments to recognize Chechen independence.
